Quarry Island Films was formed in the UK in 2013 to make entertaining and interesting films with big ideas.
Quarry Island is the name of an island found on Stony Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in Northern Canada. The granite on Quarry Island was quarried until the early 1920s and is now the home of a few cottages, a couple of deer and a family of loons (click below to listen to a loon). It also has a big leaning Pine Tree on the point which is the logo of the Quarry Island Films.
The company is headed by British-Canadian Janet Wells who has worked in Development at Capitol Films and as a screenwriter for Eon (the James Bond company). She has an MA in screenwriting from London College of Communication (UK), an MBA from Insead (France) and a BCom from Queen’s University (Canada).
Quarry Island Films’s first feature, ‘Social Suicide’ was finished late 2015 and two horrors, ‘Kiss Marry Kill’ and ‘The Vessel’ are in Development. In addition, Quarry Island Films is developing a TV series with Chormedia.
